Peking University ranked 6th on Quacquarelli Symonds’ (QS) “2012 Asian University Rankings,” moving up seven spots from last year. For the first time PKU overtakes Tokyo University.
Hong Kong University of Science and Technology tops the ranking list, followed by National University of Singapore and Hong Kong University. Seven other Chinese universities, including Tsinghua University, Fudan University and Zhejiang University, also ranked within the top 50.
"Chinese and South Korean universities have done a great job this year,” remarked the head of QS.
QS was founded in 1990 and has established itself as the leading global provider of information concerning high education. First published in 2009, the “QS Asian University Rankings” is updated annually and lists Asia’s top 300 universities based on the following factors:
