    Center for Water Research participates in 2014 U.S.-China EcoPartnerships Workshop

  • On July 8th, jointly sponsored by the National Development and Reform Commission (NRDC) China, U.S. State Department and U.S. Department of Energy, the 2014 U.S.-China EcoPartnerships Workshop was held in Beijing. Zhenhua Xie, Vice Chairman of NRDC, Catherine Novelli, U.S. Under Secretary of State, and Jonathan Elkind, Assistant Secretary of U.S. Department of Energy attended the workshop and gave their remarks.

    The Center for Water Research, Peking University has been pairing with New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) as one of the EcoPartners since 2013, focusing on “Groundwater Monitoring, Protection and Training”. During the 2014 workshop, Dr. Jie Liu from the Center for Water Research attended the panel discussion and reported the progresses and best practices of the partnership. It is highly appreciated that PKU-NYIT ecopartnership has been playing an important role in promoting technological collaborations and the sustainability of environment and water resources of the two countries.

    The EcoPartnerships Program promotes cooperation between U.S. and Chinese sub-national actors who work on clean energy, climate change, and environmental protection, to help address some of the biggest challenges facing the two countries.
