On March 24, Juan Kikushima Palacios, director of International Engineering Program, School of Engineering, Architecture and Health of Mexico Tecnologico De Monterrey Campus Guadalajara visited the College of Engineering (COE) to seek collaboration opportunities. Already in collaboration with Fudan University in Shanghai, the school intends to further its ties with universities in China and seeks to establish student exchange programs with COE at Peking University.
Professor Steven Feng Chen, associate dean of COE expressed welcome to his visit, and introduced the history and feature of COE. He said that although not established for a long time, the college embraces a high ratio of top talents, many of whom had been professors of prestigious universities overseas or outstanding local professors. The research funding and publication per capita is thus rather high. In terms of international cooperation, the Globex Faculty and Student Exchange program has involved 12 universities from US, Europe, Canada, Singapore and China, and is taking in more universities.
Juan introduced that Tecnologico De Monterrey is the largest private university in Mexico with a history of 72 years and campuses of 31. He said the Campus Guadalajara has an international engineering program where students have to spend at least one year abroad. He expressed a strong willingness to have education cooperation with COE. Both parties agreed that the Globex program may be a good opportunity to start cooperation.
